  • The Low-Floor Frontrunner Minibus: A New Standard in Fuel Efficiency, Lightweight Engineering, and Durability

In today’s evolving transportation landscape, the  Low-Floor Frontrunner® Minibus  is raising the bar for fuel efficiency, lightweight engineering, and long-term durability. Purpose-built for public transit and paratransit, it combines innovative design with proven performance, setting a new benchmark for modern fleet vehicles. Smarter Fuel Efficiency At the core of the Frontrunner’s performance is its advanced lightweight structure—just one-third the weight of a traditional cutaway chassis, yet twice as strong. Engineered with  101,500 PSI high-strength steel  and  patented composite pultrusion , it delivers superior strength with less weight. This breakthrough design provides  up to 2.5 times the fuel mileage  of conventional cutaway buses while reducing emissions. Fuel savings quickly add up: 10–14 MPG , almost double the efficiency of traditional cutaway models. A fleet traveling 30,000 miles per year can save  over $5,000 annually per vehicle . For just five buses, that’s  $25,000 in yearly savings —funds that can be reinvested into operations or expansion. The bus is also equipped with an  Electronically Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS)  that lowers the vehicle’s nose at highway speeds for improved aerodynamics and fuel economy. Operators can even drive in the kneeling position when needed, with the suspension automatically adjusting back to ride height at 5 mph. Lightweight Strength Weighing under 10,000 lbs. GVWR—nearly 2,000 lbs. lighter than conventional buses—the Frontrunner delivers improved handling, reduced wear, and higher efficiency. Key innovations include: Pultruded composite beams  for enhanced impact protection and strength. A  fully composite subfloor , guaranteed for life against water damage, rot, and mildew. High-alloy Nucor steel , offering twice the strength of cold-rolled steel at just one-third the weight. This engineering not only makes the bus stronger but also creates a quieter, smoother ride while lowering long-term maintenance costs. Proven Durability The Frontrunner has been tested to perform in real-world conditions. In the rigorous  Altoona 5-year/150,000-mile durability test , it scored an exceptional  91% , with just one hour of unscheduled maintenance—the best in its class. Durability highlights include: Hot-dip galvanized chassis , providing 200x more corrosion resistance than sprayed coatings. Modular design , allowing quick reconfiguration—such as adding a Stryker stretcher in under 10 minutes. Proven reliability , with over 1,000 units in service across North America, thriving in diverse climates and terrains. Hot-dipped galvanized chassis The Future of Transit For transit agencies, senior living facilities, and non-emergency medical transport providers, the Low-Floor Frontrunner isn’t just another bus—it’s a smarter, more sustainable investment. With unmatched efficiency, strength, and dependability, the Frontrunner represents the next generation of mobility. 📩  Ready to explore what a partnership with Frontrunner could look like? • Why Low-Floor Mini-Transit Buses Are a Winter Lifesaver

Winter brings its own set of mobility challenges—icy sidewalks, snowbanks, and freezing temperatures can make even short trips feel daunting. For seniors and passengers with mobility limitations, these conditions can be especially dangerous. That’s why  low-floor mini-transit buses  are more than just a design innovation—they’re a vital solution for compact, safe, inclusive winter travel. 1. Step-Free Entry in Snow and Ice Traditional buses often require climbing steps to board, which can be risky in slippery conditions. Low-floor mini-buses eliminate this hazard with  one step in entry . This makes boarding safer and easier for seniors and those with limited mobility. a warm welcome mat that heats the entry under the floor (think under the tile heating element in your kitchen) is an option perfect for cold weather climates. True Low-Floor Entrance   – with the Frontrunner fold out ramp, with anti-slip flooring, for entry and exiting eliminates the need for taking a chance of a fall on steps or a lift.  All mobility levels can feel confident when boarding, whether utilizing the ramp or choosing to walk in with barely a bent knee. 2. Wider Doorways for Wheelchairs and Walkers Navigating narrow entrances in bulky winter gear or with mobility aids can be frustrating. Low-floor buses feature  doorways , that allow smooth boarding for passengers using wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers. This design also helps reduce congestion and speeds up boarding during cold weather. Offering best in class 41.5” wide doorway   – The entrance to the Low Floor Frontrunner® features an industry leading 41.5” opening with two door options: Ventura Plug Style Electric Door - The Ventura plug style electric door is a heavy-duty transit style door with sensitive edge and a 1.5 million tested duty cycle. Its tight seal ensures a rattle free design and elimination of wind noise and moisture penetration.   A&M Bifold Electric Door - An industry standard with a twist. Also, with a 41” opening, the custom designed powder coated stainless steel door frame provides a tight weatherproof seal and quiet operation at a more budget minded price point.   3. Integrated Ramp for Wheelchair Access One of the most essential features of low-floor buses is the  built-in ramp . This allows passengers who use wheelchairs or cannot climb stairs to board independently and safely. In winter, when steps can be icy or obstructed by snow, ramps provide a  stable, non-slip surface  that ensures accessibility without compromise. Many are in-floor ramp design that are exposed to the elements under the bus when not in use, but they are better than steps. No more lifts and wheelchairs are in front!   – The Low-Floor Frontrunner offers a true low-floor with an ADA-compliant ramp that stows inside vertically inside - providing accessibility for all passengers, regardless of their mobility, to enter and exit through the same door. Simple Fold-out 36” x 63.5” wheelchair ramp achieves greater than a 6:1 slope ratio in the kneeled position. Simple to operate and maintain without the worry of having a passenger stuck, as is common with a traditional wheelchair lift or in-floor ramp design. A simple fold-out ramp instead of a wheelchair lift results in fewer mechanical component failures - which means less downtime.   4. Cutaway Buses: Compact, Accessible, and Winter-Ready Most Cutaway buses employ a lift in the rear or side of bus , some offer a popular low-floor option for community and paratransit services, offering all the benefits of larger transit vehicles in a more compact form. Their  low-floor design, wide doors, and integrated ramps  make them ideal for winter use in neighborhoods, senior centers, and rural areas where larger buses may not be practical. These vehicles are especially valuable for seniors who rely on door-to-door service and need safe, reliable transportation in snowy conditions. Low Floor, Kneeling, Safety, Comfort, and Style  – Because the Low Floor Frontrunner utilizes a purpose-built low floor chassis, entry is significantly lower than other cutaways with ramps. (curb height) Ramp angle is gentle and exceeds the ADA standard, where most cutaways struggle to meet it. Inside the Low-Floor Frontrunner, passengers enjoy spacious seating and panoramic views through deep-tinted, coach-style windows. With its compact & flexible 15-passenger design, the Frontrunner offers smooth, agile navigation through both rural roads and busy city streets, delivering a ride that’s as stylish as it is secure - no CDL required.   5. Faster and Safer Boarding for All Low-floor buses reduce the time passengers spend exposed to cold weather. Seniors, who may be more sensitive to low temperatures or have health conditions affected by the cold, benefit from quicker boarding and less time waiting in harsh conditions.  No waiting outside for the lift to lower and raise.  No waiting inside with doors open for drivers to traverse from inside to out while getting securements in place   Faster, More Comfortable Boarding  – The Low Floor Frontrunner is thoughtfully designed to allow all passengers to board quickly and with dignity, without prolonged exposure to extreme heat or cold. WHEELCHAIR COMPARISON RAMP VS LIFT 6. Accessible Seating Near the Entranc e Accessible seating in a mini-bus means seniors don’t have to walk far or navigate narrow aisles to find a seat. This is especially helpful in winter when passengers are bundled up and may have reduced mobility due to heavy clothing or icy footwear. Small but Mighty and more Spacious than a van   – The Low Floor Frontrunner feels spacious but is compact.  Those in wheelchairs sit in front, and with a 20-inch aisle, those more ambulatory can enter and egress without issue as they pass secured wheelchairs. This thoughtful design provides ample space for seniors to board and exit comfortably, find a seat, and securely buckle their 3-point seatbelt for a smooth ride to their destination.   7. Reliable Performance in Harsh Conditions Low-floor buses are built with  durable, weather-resistant materials,  making them more reliable in snowy and icy conditions. Their design helps transit agencies maintain consistent service, even during winter storms.   Safety First-Advanced Air Suspension and Body Structure – The Low Floor Frontrunner’s advanced composite body structure marks a major innovation, replacing traditional tubular steel with a lightweight, high strength, yet durable design. This not only enhances fuel efficiency but also reinforces passenger safety, making every ride secure and dependable. A purpose-built low-floor chassis for lowest entry access is superior to every low floor minibus with a high floor chassis.  With our 3-point seat belt securement systems, no wheelchair lifts, anti-slip flooring, and no-steps entry for confident boarding for all mobility levels, the Frontrunner is the best option on the market. Altoona Tested with score of 91 offers confidence in this superbly durable mini-bus. Check out the report. Conclusion: A Smarter Choice for Winter Mobility The Low-Floor Frontrunner Bus is a game-changer for winter travel. With thoughtful design features like no-step entry, wide aisles, wheelchair securement area in front, and ADA and smooth ramp access, it ensures every rider—regardless of age or ability—can board, ride, and exit with ease and dignity. • Low-Floor Bus Buying Guide: What You Need to Consider

Transportation is more than just a way to get from point A to point B—it’s a lifeline for communities, connecting people to jobs, healthcare, education, and each other. Choosing the right bus is a critical decision that can impact accessibility, sustainability, and long-term operational costs. Whether you're upgrading a small-town fleet or expanding service in a growing city, these key considerations will help guide your decision. Know Your Community’s Needs Begin by considering: Ridership Analysis : Determine average daily and peak ridership to size your fleet appropriately. Route Type : Identify whether routes are urban (frequent stops), suburban (longer distances), or rural (low-density, long-haul). Accessibility Demographics : Consider the percentage of riders who may need mobility assistance, such as seniors or individuals with disabilities. Do you need ADA-compliant features like no-step entry, low-floor ramps, bus kneeling, or wheelchair lockdowns. Service Frequency : Evaluate how often buses run and how quickly they need to turn around. Understanding your community’s demographics, geography, and travel patterns will help you assess your requirements. Built for the Needs of Your Riders  - The Low-Floor Frontrunner Bus is engineered to meet the evolving demands of today’s communities. Its flexible capacity options make it easy to scale for fleets of any size, while its versatile design ensures dependable performance across urban, suburban, and rural routes. Whether you're focused on accessibility, efficiency, or adaptability, Frontrunner delivers a solution that fits. Prioritize Accessibility Accessibility isn’t just a legal requirement—it’s a commitment to equity. Look for features such as: Low-floor or low-entry designs  for easy boarding, with no-step, and seamless access for all. Ramps for the safety of loading and unloading wheelchairs, strollers, and those with disabilities. Wide doors and aisles  that allow for easy entry and egress, even when a wheelchair is secured in place. Secured areas  for wheelchairs and strollers. These features ensure that everyone in your community can ride with dignity and ease. Built for Everyone: Accessibility Without Compromise - The Low-Floor Frontrunner Bus isn’t just compliant—it’s compassionate. With thoughtful design features like no-step entry, wide aisles, securement areas, and smooth ramp access, it ensures every rider—regardless of age or ability—can board, ride, and exit with ease and dignity. If your goal is to build a truly inclusive fleet that reflects the needs of your entire community, the Low-Floor Frontrunner is the clear choice. Consider Fuel Type—But Don’t Overlook Operational Fit While electric and hybrid buses have gained popularity, they may not be the best fit for every community. Consider: GAS, Diesel or CNG for longer rural routes with limited charging infrastructure. Hybrid  offers a balance between fuel efficiency and range Electric,  for short, high-frequency urban routes Match the fuel type to your operational realities—not just trends. Stay Ahead of Regulations—Without Going Electric: Many transit vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVW are often exempt from electric vehicle requirements—and the fuel-efficient Low-Floor Frontrunner Bus qualifies. That means you can modernize your fleet without being locked into electric mandates, giving you more flexibility and control over your operations. A full 15 Passenger bus under 10,000 lbs. GVWR seems impossible – but it isn’t when you RE-THINK EVERYTHING.   Evaluate Lifecycle Costs, Not Just Purchase Price The cheapest bus upfront may cost more in the long run. Look at: Fuel Efficiency : Compare miles per gallon or energy consumption per mile. Maintenance Costs : Review historical data or manufacturer estimates for upkeep. Parts Availability : Ensure parts are readily available to minimize downtime. Warranty Coverage : Look for comprehensive warranties on drivetrain, body, and electronics. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) : Use TCO calculators to project costs over the vehicle’s lifespan. Tools like Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculators can help you make data-driven decisions. Why It’s Better : The Frontrunner’s durable design and simplified maintenance reduce both repair frequency and costs—keeping your buses on the road longer and your budget in check. Test Before You Commit Many manufacturers offer demo units or pilot programs. Take advantage of these: Demo Units : Request a trial bus to test on your actual routes. Driver Feedback : Collect input on handling, visibility, and ease of operation. Passenger Feedback : Gauge comfort, accessibility, and boarding experience. Maintenance Trial : Evaluate ease of servicing and diagnostic tools. This hands-on experience can reveal insights that spec sheets can’t. See the Difference Firsthand - Schedule a demo today and discover how the Low-Floor Frontrunner Bus can transform your fleet—boosting efficiency, enhancing accessibility, and delivering a better experience for every rider. Check for Compliance and Certifications Ensure the bus model has passed key certifications like: Altoona Test : Confirms durability, safety, and performance under simulated real-world conditions. You want to look for a manufacturer with a high Altoona test score but also investigate the specifics of the test to see what the downtime was. Buy America Compliance : Required for federally funded purchases. ADA Compliance : Ensures accessibility features meet federal standards. FMVSS Certification : Confirms the vehicle meets federal motor vehicle safety standards. These certifications ensure safety, durability, and eligibility for federal funding. Setting the Standard in Compliance - When safety, reliability, and funding eligibility matter, the Frontrunner delivers. With top-tier performance in the Altoona Test (Highest score in its class), full Buy America and ADA compliance, and FMVSS certification, it meets the highest standards required for public transit operations. Choosing the Low-Floor Frontrunner means choosing a bus that’s not only built to last—but built to qualify. • Low-Floor Buses: Empowering Independence in Senior Living Communities

As senior living communities evolve, so must the transportation solutions that support residents’ freedom, safety, and quality of life. One of the most impactful innovations in recent years is the low-floor bus—a vehicle designed to eliminate steps at the entrance, making boarding and exiting easier and safer for everyone, especially older adults.   What Are Low-Floor Buses? Low-floor buses feature a floor that, when lowered, sits just inches above street level, allowing for: Step-free entry and exit, removing physical barriers Ramp access for wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids Spacious interiors with wide aisles for easy movement Faster boarding and disembarking, reducing delays Improved safety and comfort, especially for those with limited mobility These buses are increasingly being adopted in senior living communities for their accessibility, ease of use, and ability to support independent travel. Why Low-Floor Buses Matter for Seniors 1. Enhanced Accessibility Mobility challenges are common among older adults, and even a single step can be a serious obstacle. Low-floor buses: Eliminate the need to climb stairs or use lifts Simplify boarding for those using walkers, canes, or wheelchairs Remove the need for seniors to be lifted three feet in the air by a wheelchair lift when they cannot use the stairs, as this experience can be frightening for many. Minimize the risk of trips, slips, and falls This accessibility empowers residents to move freely and safely, reducing dependence on staff or caregivers to negotiate steps or ride the lift with them.   2. Greater Independence Transportation is a cornerstone of independent living. With low-floor buses, seniors can: Attend medical appointments without stress Shop for groceries or personal items on their own schedule Join community outings, religious services, or cultural events with ease These buses make it possible for residents to participate in daily life more independently, boosting confidence and autonomy.   3. Spacious and Wheelchair-Friendly Design Low-floor buses are built with seniors in mind: Wide aisles for easy navigation, even with mobility aids Simple fold out ramps and secure tie-downs for wheelchairs Priority seating with extra space and support Smooth air suspension systems for a comfortable ride Whether using a wheelchair or simply needing more room to move, residents can travel with dignity and comfort.   4. Faster, More Efficient Service Low-floor designs streamline the boarding process, which benefits both residents and staff: Reduced wait times for individuals of all mobility levels—from fully mobile to wheelchair users—ensuring that everyone boards and gets settled without unnecessary delays. Quicker turnaround for group outings, or necessary doctor appointments Easier scheduling and route planning because everything is more efficient.  Happy Seniors make everyone happy. This efficiency is especially valuable for communities with active calendars and frequent trips. Ideal for Senior Living Communities Whether serving a small retirement village or a large continuing care facility, low-floor buses can be tailored to meet specific needs. Customizable features include: Kneeling suspension systems that lower the bus Wider entrance door for passengers with large scooters or wheelchairs Simple virtually indestructible ramp for seamless wheelchair or walk-on access Spacious and airy interior featuring large, tinted windows, optional antimicrobial vinyl seating with extra cushioning, and generous legroom—all designed to enhance comfort and create a relaxing feeling. These enhancements make low-floor buses not just practical, but a thoughtful investment in resident care and independence. Final Thoughts Low-floor buses represent more than just a transportation upgrade—they symbolize a commitment to accessibility, dignity, and independence. For senior living communities aiming to enhance mobility and quality of life, investing in low-floor transportation is a smart, compassionate, and forward-thinking choice. Among the many options available, the Low-Floor Frontrunner Bus stands out as the preferred solution for senior communities. • The True Cost of Ownership — Why the Low Floor Frontrunner® is the Smarter Choice

When it comes to investing in a transportation solution, the upfront cost is just the tip of the iceberg.  The true cost of ownership includes everything from fuel efficiency and maintenance to safety and downtime. At Frontrunner Bus Group, Inc., we believe that every dollar you spend should yield reliable, long-term benefits. Here’s why the Frontrunner®’s low-floor minibusses are not only a smarter investment but also a better choice for your passengers and your bottom line. 1. Fuel Efficiency that Saves You Thousands—Year After Year Fuel costs represent one of the most significant ongoing expenses for any transportation fleet. The Frontrunner’s innovative design features a  lightweight yet high-strength body and chassis structure , allowing it to achieve an impressive  10-14 miles per gallon —up to twice the mileage of comparable cutaway class buses with similar passenger capacity. Why This Matters: For a typical fleet traveling  30,000 miles annually , switching to the Low Floor Frontrunner could save operators  over $5,000 per year in fuel alone . These savings compound quickly, turning what might seem like a higher upfront cost into substantial long-term financial benefits.   Example: If you operate a fleet of just five vehicles, that’s a potential savings of  $25,000 per year —enough to reinvest in your business or expand your service offerings.   2. Maintenance That Won’t Break the Bank Repairs are more than just an inconvenience—they can cripple your budget, especially when it comes to wheelchair lifts. Traditional wheelchair lifts are prone to failure at the worst times, leading to costly repairs and frustrating delays for passengers. The Frontrunner addresses this issue head-on with its  virtually indestructible fold-out ramp , which is simpler, more reliable, and far less expensive to maintain.   In Numbers: Traditional lift repair:  These can cost $2,000–$3,000 per incident. Frontrunner ramp maintenance:  Minimal, with significantly lower costs and downtime.   Why It’s Better: By reducing both the frequency and cost of repairs, the Frontrunner keeps your vehicles on the road and your maintenance budget under control.   3. Safety Means Savings—Fewer Incidents, Lower Costs Safety is not just a moral imperative—it’s a financial one. Accidents, injuries, and liability claims can quickly escalate costs and damage your reputation. The Frontrunner’s  spacious low-floor design  eliminates the need for steep steps, reducing the risk of slips, trips, and falls for seniors and other passengers.   The Financial Impact: Average cost of a liability claim:  $10,000–$30,000 per incident. Cost of preventing incidents:  Minimal, with Frontrunner’s safer design.   Real-World Scenario: Imagine avoiding even one slip-and-fall claim per year—that’s up to  $30,000 in potential savings . Additionally, safer design can lead to lower  insurance premiums , saving even more over time.   4. Extended Lifespan — A Smart Long-Term Investment While a traditional cutaway with steps and a wheelchair lift may come with a lower initial price tag, they historically have  short lifespans  due to rust, lower-quality materials and higher failure rates for the critical frame, body and components. In contrast, the Frontrunner is built to last with  high-strength, corrosion-resistant materials  that withstand the rigors of daily use.  The hot dip galvanized chassis is up to 200 times more corrosion resistant than cold rolled steel with environmentally unfriendly undercoating over plywood. The Frontrunner’s patented lightweight composite bus structure sets a new standard for durability and comfort in a cutaway class bus.      Long-Term Benefits: Lower depreciation:  Retains value better than comparable models, making the Frontrunner a great vehicle to lease. Fewer replacements:  Extended service life means fewer costly replacements.   The Bottom Line: Replacing a vehicle prematurely doesn’t just cost more — it disrupts operations and drains resources that could be better spent elsewhere.   5. True Comfort — For Passengers and Your Budget A cutaway chassis was never designed to carry passengers. Their heavy-duty leaf springs and stiff suspension were designed for box trucks. Making matters worse, wheelchair occupants ride in the rear of the bus and suffer the indignity of being lifted four feet in the air and a poor bouncy ride. Cramped, dated, noisy, rattle prone, and poorly lit interiors are a common complaint of traditional multi-step cutaways, leading to dissatisfied passengers and, ultimately, fewer return customers. The Frontrunner’s  spacious, bright interior  and easy-to-navigate layout enhance passenger comfort, making it an easy choice for organizations that prioritize rider comfort and satisfaction.  Built from the ground up for people, the difference is significant and undeniable.   Why Comfort Matters Financially: Satisfied passengers are more likely to recommend your service, boosting both  customer retention and revenue . Additionally, a comfortable, efficient vehicle reduces loading and unloading times, allowing you to  serve more passengers per hour . Studies have shown that loading a wheelchair occupant with a ramp vs. a wheelchair is 6X more efficient.   Customer Feedback: “ Our passengers love the extra space and smooth access of the Frontrunner. We’ve seen a noticeable increase in both satisfaction and word-of-mouth referrals ,” says a Frontrunner operator in California.  "It was perfect! As soon as we could, we bought two more" 6. Lower Total Cost of Ownership — The Numbers Don’t Lie When you add up all the factors - fuel savings, reduced maintenance, longer lifespan, customer satisfaction, and fewer incidents — the Low Floor Frontrunner’s total cost of ownership is significantly lower than that of traditional cutaways with steps and a wheelchair lift or a cramped van attempting to emulate a low floor. What might seem like a higher initial investment quickly proves to be the more economical choice in the long run.   Cost Breakdown: Fuel savings:  Up to $5,000 per year per vehicle. Maintenance savings:  Potential to cut costs by 50% or more. Safety-related savings:  Thousands in avoided liability claims.   Over a 10-year period, a fleet of five Frontrunner minibuses could save operators more than $250,000 compared to similar models.   7. Invest in the Frontrunner — See the Savings for Yourself The choice is clear: The Low Floor Frontrunner’s superior design doesn’t just lower costs—it transforms the economics of your fleet management. Investing in a Frontrunner means more than just cutting expenses; it’s about delivering  safer, more comfortable, and more reliable  service to your passengers. • The Frontrunner Bus Revolutionizes Public Transit in Lassen County

At Frontrunner® Bus, we’re pleased to share the latest development in accessible and efficient public transportation: Lassen County, California, has incorporated the Frontrunner into its fleet, dramatically enhancing transit options for its rural residents. As a new addition to the Lassen Rural Bus (LRB) service, the Frontrunner makes daily commutes smoother and safer, particularly for elderly and disabled passengers who depend on reliable public transit for essential travel. Meeting Lassen County’s Unique Needs Located in northeastern California, Lassen County’s geography presents distinct transportation challenges, from rugged terrain to significant winter snowfall. With a high proportion of riders requiring accessible services, the LRB service, managed by the Lassen County Transportation Commission, sought a solution that would meet these unique needs. Enter the Frontrunner Bus. Caleb Schortz, General Manager for Paratransit Services, first discovered the Frontrunner through a chance email—and the bus’s low-floor design immediately stood out. “We need low-floor vehicles for our Dial-A-Ride service, which serves many wheelchair and elderly passengers,” said Schortz. “The Frontrunner’s design is exactly what we need.” Why the Frontrunner Works for Lassen County The Frontrunner’s thoughtful design is proving invaluable for Lassen County. Its low-floor entry and ample wheelchair space make boarding and exiting much easier, while its small body size and tight turning radius allow it to navigate city streets with ease. Since joining the LRB fleet in 2022, the Frontrunner has been primarily used on the City Express Route, achieving an impressive 92% on-time performance—an essential metric for public transit reliability. Nick Shoemaker, the fleet’s mechanic, praised the Frontrunner for its ease of maintenance. “Apart from a minor issue with a cooling hose, it’s been straightforward to maintain,” Shoemaker noted. A Bus for Both Riders and Drivers The Frontrunner has quickly become a favorite among LRB drivers, who appreciate its comfort and safety features, such as supportive seating and a narrower A-pillar to reduce blind spots. Passengers, too, have responded positively, particularly elderly riders who value the bus’s spacious, open floor plan and low noise level. With a state-of-the-art HEPA filtration system, the Frontrunner also meets today's passengers' health and safety concerns, enhancing air quality during transit. Built for Lassen County’s Weather Lassen County faces tough winter conditions, and the Frontrunner’s design has risen to the challenge. While chains are still necessary for severe weather, the bus’s lightweight structure allows it to “float” on the snow, maintaining stability and safety. Its four-corner air suspension, with the latest ECAS system, offers unmatched comfort and fuel efficiency, lowering the bus at highway speeds to improve aerodynamics and providing the lowest step-in height and ramp angle in the industry. Future Plans for the Frontrunner in Lassen County The success of the initial Frontrunner deployment has paved the way for growth. Lassen County Transit is preparing to order additional Frontrunner buses to meet the needs of its expanding service area. Assistant Transportation Planner Jasleen Mutti confirmed that they plan to continue investing in the Frontrunner, recognizing it as the most fuel-efficient vehicle in their fleet. “The Frontrunner has quickly proven its value in our community,” said Mutti. “We’re excited to see how it will support our long-term goals for service connectivity and efficiency.” Driving the Future of Rural Public Transit The addition of the Frontrunner Bus to Lassen County’s fleet marks a significant step toward accessible, efficient, and reliable public transportation in the region. By addressing the specific needs of Lassen County’s residents and adapting to environmental challenges, the Frontrunner is more than just a new vehicle—it’s a transformative tool for the community. As Lassen County Transit continues to expand and evolve, the Frontrunner stands poised to become a cornerstone of rural public transit, enhancing quality of life for those who depend on it every day.
